Illustrative Linocut
My linocut work is illustrative and graphic at heart: clear shapes, bold fields of color, and vibrant hues. That’s my aesthetic.
I find inspiration everywhere – in nature, pop culture, and my daily bike rides, which continually reignite my love for animals and plants. The vivid cartoons of my childhood are still a part of me, longing for expression. And the 80s? They hold a magical allure that I often channel into retro palettes.
For me, linocut is the medium that breathes life into my digital illustrations. Paradoxically, it’s the technique’s natural limitations that have most defined my style. I usually work with two or three plates, layering them to build the final image.
Bold, colorful, different – linocut reimagined
I love how linocut can shift from soft and feminine to bold and expressive. Every color palette tells its own story. Instead of black, I use vibrant colors that bring out the essence of my subject.
My work is layered and colorful – deliberately breaking from traditional black-and-white prints. With clean shapes, minimal detail, and colors tailored to each motif, I build every image layer by layer.
In my Cut by Cut online course, I share my process – for anyone who wants to explore linocut beyond black and white.
