What is Linocut?
Linocut is a printmaking technique that uses linoleum blocks carved to create an image. The remaining raised areas are inked and then pressed onto paper to make a print. Each piece consists of three overlapping color layers. To achieve this, I carve three separate blocks that are printed on top of each other. Every print is an original and truly one of a kind!
I’m also proud to be a Relief Printmaking Ambassador for Cranfield Colours – the makers of my absolute favorite inks.
My Style
A small selection from well over a hundred linocut prints I’ve created since late 2018. During the first four years, I focused almost entirely on women’s portraits – more than eighty of them, each with its own theme, character, and emotion.
Occupations, zodiac signs, florals, famous women, weather moods, or historical eras – every portrait tells its own story and carries a distinct sense of symbolism.
Over time, my focus has expanded. I’ve explored animal subjects, still lifes, florals, and even illustrations for children. These journeys into other themes have refined my sense for shape, color, and balance – yet the portraits remain my strongest source of fascination.
